All patients can benefit by registering in “My Medicare” scheme – a new Commonwealth Government Initiative. Registration is voluntary. Patients who hold Medicare or Veteran Card are eligible to register.
Patients who have seen a GP at Newdegate Street Health Centre twice in two year are eligible to register with Newdegate Street Health Centre as their “Home Clinic” and the GP with whom they have been consulting as their “Preferred Medical Provider”. Newdegate Street Health Centre offers to all their “My Medicare” registrants priority booking and extended telehealth consults that are not normally available to other unregistered patients.
My Medicare registration does not tie the patient with the Newdegate Street Health Centre. Patients are free to change the registration to other clinic if their circumstances change. Patients also can change their preferred GP in future. Whilst registered for My Medicare using Newdegate Street Health Centre as the home clinic, patients can still visit other clinics as required. Further details are available in: https://www.health.gov.au/our-work/mymedicare
